Odor Prevention, Maintenance and Recommendation Checklist

Daily

Add 1 quart of fresh water to separator.
Check separator for lint, scale, dirt, emulsion, etc. and clean if necessary.
Check solvent level in still for possible overfilling
Darin still residue (as often as distillation requires)
Remove and dryclean or wash lint bag.
Inspect lint bag for holes and replace immediately if holes are present.
Check solvent flow from condenser to separator and remove debris if flow is impaired.
Use LAIDLAW BUFF™. LAIDLAW BUFF™ is a slow release, powdered solvent additive which through various functions, provides significant and immediate benefits to the drycleaning operation. This product will react with unstable fatty acids to neutralize and modify the cleaning system's pH. In so doing, the source of odor, system corrosion, swales and garment ornamentation tarnishing can be eliminated. LAIDLAW BUFF™ will effectively deodorize and at the same time, reodorize the cleaning system.

Weekly:

Clean lint and dirt build up from steam coil or steam chest in still.
Check solvent tanks for lint and water and remove immediately if present.
Remove lint from exhaust dampers on reclaimers and dry-to-dry reclamation heads.

Monthly:

Drain and clean water separators.

Quarterly:

Check condensing coil on still for lint and clean if necessary.
Check steam sweep for leaks and replace if necessary
Inspect condensing coil water strainer on reclaimers and dry-to-dry reclamation heads and remove any debris and lime if present.
Remove any lint from condensing coils on reclaimers and dry-to-dry reclamation heads.

Semi-Annually:

Check heating coil on reclaimers and dry-to-dry reclamation heads for lint and clean if necessary.
Check solvent inlet and outlet lines on water water separator for blockage and clean if necessary.
Remove solvent and thoroughly clean base tanks.
Clean still condensing coil.
Check vapor line from still for lint and clean if necessary.

Annually:

Check normal distillation steam pressure to still. Adjust to manufacturer's recommended pressure if necessary.

WATER SEPARATOR

PROBLEM: Water Separator has blue or green color tinge to it or the water.

CAUSE:

Inner walls of solvent recovery pipes are breaking down due to distillation.
Copper Oxide caused by deterioration of the copper in any coils carry water.
"Scan" when added to the separators can cause the water to turn blue.

SOLUTION:

Use LAIDLAW BUFF™.

Refer to reasons in bold print under DAILY.
